ABSA Introduce Facebook Banking

Over the years consumers have adopted many new ways to bank. From credit cards and EFTs to Snapscan and cellphone banking. Now ABSA are taking things to another level and have introduced Facebook banking.

In what is described as a world first ABSA have tied into social media phenomenon Facebook and will now assist consumers through the social media platform to bank via the portal. Group Cheif Information officer Ashley Veasey says : “Our customers already use Facebook” for a number of different things.

ABSA already offer chatbanking via Twitter (in case you didn’t know) and say the new service will allow their clients to do their ‘liking and banking’ in the same space. ABSA promise to protect their clients data through Facebook Chatbanking and say that account numbers and personal details will never be displayed in a chat so even if a device/computer is stolen or lost consumers can rest easy.

ABSA also recently updated their website. It seems the IT department have been super busy. the question is: Will you try it?
