Did Your Employer Claim TERS UIF?
Check If Your Employer Has Claimed UIF Through TERS
During the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown a provision was made for employers to claim UIF through the Temporary Employee/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS). This is aimed at helping workers who are stuck at home or unable to earn due to the lockdown to get by. Over 100 000 payments have been made to companies so far by TERS.
Workers can receive between R3500 and up to R6730 through the fund based on their usual earnings.
Many workers have grown concerned that their employers have not claimed or have claimed and are hanging onto the money (which is illegal and hard to hide). To help provide peace of mind the UIF has provided access to the list of firms who have applied. The site also has a search feature where you can look for your specific employer.
