Standard Bank Warn of Phishing Danger

Standard Bank Warn Debt Counsellors

Standard Bank, like all the other banks, is often a target of internet hackers and tricksters. Often banking brands are used by crooks to try to get peoples private information and passwords etc. This can be done by what is called “phishing“.

phishing

/ˈfɪʃɪŋ/

noun

  1. the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.
“an email that is likely a phishing scam”

Standard Bank Debt Review Department has warned that if Debt Counsellors get an email about a topic such as Debit Order cancellation from Ashton Loots they must beware as it seems this may be a phishing attempt.

The email may contain innocent looking attachments which could compromise your security. Standard Bank takes these things very seriously and are doing all they can to address the issue but felt it best that Debt Counsellors and all their staff members be made aware.
