African Bank try to clarify consumers Debt Review Status
African Bank seek clarity
African Bank have been contacting Debt Counsellors around the country with a friendly request with some help in figuring out the status of consumers who they have been notified are under debt review but are not showing as such on the credit bureaus.
NCR DEBT HELP
As per the NCA when a consumer applies for a Debt review the Debt Counsellor needs to let the Credit Bureaus know. This is done via the www.ncrdebthelp system- an online computer webpage & system which is managed by the NCR to track the status of consumers who apply for debt review. The NCR’s system then notifies all 13 of the local Credit Bureaus of the consumers status including if they are accepted and if they finish with the debt review process.
The Correct Status
Debt Counsellors are encouraged to assist in these matters as sometimes people and computers make mistakes and the NCR debt help system might need to be updated again to ensure that the credit bureaus reflect the proper information. The upcoming Credit Amnesty will not affect the consumers debt review status as only negative credit information is going to be removed/ hidden. Debt review is not seen as a negative step. rather it is a responsible way to repay debts and should be viewed in a positive light.
