We have very rich and very poor people. So, finding averages is a bit of a tricky exercise. Still, BankservAfrica does research and tries to track the theoretical “average” take home pay for employed people in the country.
Last year that average was R15 055 per month.
This year the average dropped a bit to R14 633 per month.
Obviously, some people are earning massive salaries while others receive just a small amount each month. It is interesting however to see these average figures which are based on what those employed by companies across SA earn.
The researchers also pointed out that consumers are dealing with the highest rates of inflation in the last 13 years and so are losing buying power each month even if they are earning the same amount.
