The Course

The Debt Court Pro course is designed to assist Debt Counsellors with a general understanding of the Motion Court procedure and format as well as general information on what appearing at the Magistrate’s Court entails.

Course Contents:

An overview of the Magistrate’s Courts Act and Rules; Information re: court officials and jurisdiction; Discussion of Rule 55: the Motion procedure; Advice on how to contact an attorney, enquire about fees, letters of appointment of attorneys, issuing, service and filing of applications, court file preparation, notice of set down as well as what is required when applications are postponed, service of orders, record keeping and status changes on DHS.
