Debt Counsellors Association of South Africa Annual Conference

DCASA are holding their annual conference tomorrow at Emperors Palace in Gauteng (near the airport). The conference starts at 8.30.

One of the highlights of the day will be the presentation in regard to recent research by DCASA into how long it takes (hours) to conduct an entire debt review. DCASA called on both members and non members to help them figure this figure out so that proposals in regard to a new debt counselling feel structure can be made via the CIF and NCR.

Other associations and groups are busy with similar projects. While certain initiatives such as DCRS make some of the process faster, few debt review matters (less that 20%) are resolved via the system. For the most part more and more requirements and higher daily running costs mean that most DCs would like to see a better fee structure which takes into account things like reckless lending investigations etc.

Copies of Debtfree – the Special Print Edition- will also be available to those attending.
