Industry Put Their Money Where the Need Is

A small but determined group of debt review industry folk met at a breakfast held in Durbanville, Cape Town for the very first Debt Counselling Community Support (DCCS) fundraising breakfast on Friday 10th.

What is DCCS?

Debt Counselling Community Support is not an association or club or forum or group but is rather a charity-like organisation that is helping to vulnerable debt review clients stay in the debt review process longer by helping ease the financial pressures that mount over time as inflation and increases in transport and food costs outstrip the consumers available funds set aside for everyday items. In the past few months DCCs have focused in on supplying needy debt review consumers with food vouchers, school clothes and bags of back to school supplies.

Breakfast Fundraiser

DCCS fundraiser 1The Fundraiser began with a short audio visual presentation and a speech from Attorney and Debt Counsellor DCCS co-founder Adri De Bruyn. The audio visual presentation showed images of some of the people assisted by Debt Counsellors and DCCS. Also on display was a long list of those companies and individuals who have got involved like Steyn Coetzee Attorneys. Adri outlined some of the work that has been done and mentioned that DCCS is also about publicizing how much extra Debt Counsellors do to help those in their communities and their own clients.  Guests then enjoyed a tasty and generous breakfast while chatting about projects they would like to support or start.

The event brought in a healthy amount of funds to go toward similar projects over the coming months. Companies like Hyphen PDA and DC Partner as well as individual Debt Counsellor firms like DebtSOS and others have gotten involved and are helping to make a positive change in consumers lives over and above the statutory debt review process. Adri said that DCCS are looking to companies to help them identify worthy candidates for assistance.
