DCASA Contact Details

The Debt Counsellors Association of South Africa is also known as DCASA. They are holding their Annual General Meeting today (at the Kempton Park Golf Course). We asked them for some more info about their association.

Since its inception in 2006 DCASA’s main aim was to improve the Debt Counselling Industry. Much has been achieved despite many challenges. These achievements include a better Debt Review processes and forms, Affordability Guidelines for Debt Counsellors (Credit Providers will only implement their Affordability Assessments guidelines in 2015 – five years after the DC’s Affordability Assessment was implemented), repayment rules, improve Debt Counselling skills and the DCASA Annual Conference got bigger and better every year.

The Debt Counselling Profession, the rights of Consumers and the Debt Review Process will remain the focus point of DCASA in its quest to build the Debt Review Industry. The continuous value add and information sharing to members and Consumers remain the main reasons why more and more Debt Counsellors join DCASA and why DCASA remains the dominant Debt Counselling Association in the Country. Members enjoy the insightful monthly Newsletter, Consumer Newsletter, assistance provided to Consumers who contact DCASA, referral of new DC leads, the ability to contact DCASA for advice and guidance and the regional quarterly DCASA meeting lead by DCASA NEC members.

After many years of lobbying, motivations and submissions the Amendments to the NCA will kick in but the goal to improve the Debt Review Industry remain important. DCASA will continue to lead the way with its Industry improvement actions. Apart from the implementation of the Amendments to the NCA the voluntary improvements and agreements will remain important to take the Industry forward. This can only be achieved by constructive engagement and empowering members on an ongoing basis.

The future of DCASA is best summarised by the following comment of a new member:

“The reasons why I joined DCASA is to ensure that I will remain informed and to ensure I grow with the Industry. If I don’t join DCASA I will miss out”
