New NCR Circular For Debt Counsellors

The NCR have asked Debt Counsellors to update their details on the NCR Debt Help System.

In a recent circular, the National Credit Regulator (NCR) has told all Debt Counsellors that they need to update their contact and practice details. This is done on the NCR’s backend reporting system, and the information is reflected on the NCR’s public search directory of Debt Counsellors.

Consumers looking to find a local Debt Counsellor are able to do so under the registrants tab on the NCR’s website. The website can be searched either by the area (town or city) or by inputting the exact spelling of a Debt Counsellor’s name or surname.

Note: At present, the function to search by practice name or with incorrect spelling is not yet live.

Update Your Info

Each Debt Counsellor is required to log into the Debt Help System and click on the update button (see pic below).

Each Debt Counsellor has to check on and update all three the categories in this section, including:

    • Debt Counsellors’ Personal Information
    • Contact Details
    • Business Operating Address.

After they have updated the information, each Debt Counsellor then needs to inform the NCR they have done their update by sending a confirmation email to: tvandergrijp@ncr.org.za.

The email should have the subject line:

NCRDC##### UPDATE CONFIRMATION

Don't Delay

Updating the information is mandatory and failure to do so could cause big problems with the regulator. So, Debt Counsellors do well to get this sorted before the end of September.

Having up to date information on the system not only helps ensure that the NCR are able to find Debt Counsellors and send them correspondence, etc but it also allows consumers who are looking for a Debt Counsellor in their area to find someone registered to deal with.

Alternatively, consumers can check out the Service Directory Section of each issue of Debtfree Magazine or this online directory on our site HERE.
