A lot of people like to use the start of a year to set new goals.
But we all know that sticking to those goals can be hard. Why? Because people often set unrealistic goals for themselves. They set a goal that they can’t actually achieve.
‘people often set unrealistic goals for themselves’
For example, you may decide to get super fit and run 10km each day from January 1st. But if you are super unfit now and get out of breath just going up the stairs then that’s a silly goal. It would be much better to start small (like regular daily walks) and slowly progress towards a bigger goal over time.
It’s like debt review. You make small payments regularly over time to eventually get out of debt. And just like debt review takes several years, so too reaching a BIG goal can take time and be made up of lots of smaller stepping stones.
So, if you are planning to set goals for the new year then consider chopping any BIG goals into smaller steps and spreading them across the months ahead.
