Life is messy.

Things seldom work out exactly like you plan, despite your best efforts to try and make sure things run smoothly.

It might be flight plans that are changed last minute after you arrive at the airport. It might be changes to your well laid out debt restructuring plan or some other twist. We can’t really account for every eventuality. We can try minimise risk but never fully eradicate it.

Now, everyone who enters debt review has a somewhat similar experience. Changes to how you spend and what you have to pay your credit providers. There is paperwork to fill out and lifestyle adjustments to make. All similar.

However, even in debt review, things can get messy. So, this month, we compare a “perfect” debt review with a “disastrous” one. We consider those factors within your control and those outside your control.

‘our brains do tend to focus on the things that don’t work’

It is worth noting, however, that our brains do tend to focus on the things that don’t work. The…stain on the white tablecloth, the bump in the road and not on the myriad other things around us that are going right. So, consider your mindset. What do you focus on.

One plan we hope that you have already made (and that we hope works out well) is watching the annual Debt Review Awards Show.

In this issue, we also take a deep dive into all things to do with the Awards. We discuss everything from who is considered, the criterion considered, the arrangements and how you can watch the Awards Show live on the 24th of October.

We hope that you and your family will be able to tune in and watch. Perhaps one of your friends or maybe your rivals will take home awards this year. Whatever happens, you will be able to catch all the drama live on YouTube.

‘if things can go wrong, then things can also go right’

Things are seldom perfect. It would maybe feel a little strange (but wonderful) if they were. But why not consciously decide to be positive? After all, if things can go wrong, then things can also go right.

Sure, life can be messy. But it can also be great. Try to focus on what is working and then try your best to sort out what isn’t. Try to take note of all the small things around you that are working well in the background. The things you might otherwise overlook. You may find they are more abundant than you thought.

We certainly hope that one of the things that is running well (if not perfectly) is your debt review and we hope that soon you will be debt free.
