Transport Just Got More Expensive

petrol 2

As of Wed 6th April the fuel price will once again increase, hitting consumer hard. In addition to the base costs going up per litre the fuel levy (as mentioned in the budget speech) will increase by an additional R0.30 this month. While consumers have grown used to prices slowly increasing the recent hikes pushes fuel to the most expensive paid locally ever and consumers who use gas are also in for a shock.

Increases:

Unleaded 93

Unleaded 93 increases by 86 cents in Gauteng and 81 Cents at the coast.

Unleaded 95

Unleaded 95 increases by 88 cents in Gauteng and 83 Cents at the coast.

Diesel

Diesel increases by 95 cents in Gauteng and 92 Cents at the coast.

Got Gas?

Gas is also going up by R1.10 per Kg regardless of where you live.

What Lies Ahead?

So, while drivers have already forgotten about February’s brief drop in prices the good news is that the Rand has been doing OK against the Dollar over the last few days and this may have future benefits in regard to the fuel price. Of course, that is just one of many factors involved. If however you combine this recent price hike taking fuel costs to all time highs with, the drought pushing food costs up and the 9.4% increase in the cost of electricity consumers are facing hard times. If you are struggling to make ends meet rather head off to your local Debt Counsellor as opposed to a local loan shark. Remember that Debt Review can help reduce monthly debt repayments to a more reasonable and manageable amount each month.
