Debt Counsellors are reporting huge problems with the National Credit Regulator’s Database.
The NCR’s Database or registrants shows consumers who is and isn’t really registered with the NCR.
It is a way for consumer to check on the legitimacy of someone offering debt review services (or credit providers offering access to credit).
The system seems to be experiencing issues as some Debt Counsellors are saying that when they search for their own details (eg. using their register number) the system says they are not registered or shows someone else’s details.
It is hoped the issue is dealt with soon as this may erode trust in genuine Debt Counsellors (and credit providers).
There have been several other complaints recently about how consumers are not able to search by Practice name (or trading name or company name). This has also caused some concern.
