NCR Quarterly Report Due On Monday
NCR Report Due 15th August
Debt Counsellors are required to send statistics to the NCR on a quarterly basis. This report is due next week Monday and all Debt Counsellors are reminded to complete the Form 42 and submit it before the deadline.
The report contains information about how many applications Debt Counsellors have received and from what type of consumer profile. This helps the NCR (in theory) gain a better understanding of who is looking for help and how many people are receiving help every month.
Doubling up the Workload
The NCR also have an online system which Debt Counsellors use to capture the name and ID of everyone who begins debt review. Debt Counsellors then have to update the system for each consumer, as they progress through the process. This online system, called NCR Debt Help in theory then contains all the information that is requested in the forms/reports that Debt Counsellors have to submit every few months. They system does not allow the Debt Counsellor to automatically generate this report at present. The system has received much criticism from users over the past few years and has often been updated (with some new codes etc).
Growing Distrust at the NCR of the Debt Help System?
Recently the NCR themselves expressed their distrust of the system when they requested that Debt Counsellors double up on the work that the system does in notifying the various credit bureaus when someone completes debt review. Instead of relying on the system to notify 3 of the large credit bureaus the NCR asked that Debt Counsellors do so directly, as it seems they fear the system is not efficient in doing this task. Many consumers have complained that they are still shown as under debt review even after completing the process (even though their Debt Counsellors had used the system to notify the bureaus). The NCr are continuing to have the system upgraded and have talked about some great functionality that they hope to include in the system in the future. For now though it seems that Debt Counsellors will just have to do a little more work till things get sorted out.
