New NCR CEO

With the start of the new month, the new NCR CEO has taken up his new role at the National Credit Regular.

Mr Otsile Maseng, formerly of the NHRBRC, has started his tenure at the NCR with various meetings with staff members (in person and online).

Over the years, several people have held the role (permanently or in an acting capacity), including:

Gabriel Davel (CEO): 2006 – 2011. Gabriel was the inaugural Chief Executive Officer appointed when the regulator was first established, and helped shape much of how things are done at the NCR in the industry to this day.

Nomsa Motshegare (CEO): 2012 – April 2024. Served for over a decade, originally joining the regulator as Chief Operations Officer before taking the top position and holding that position for the longest time period so far.

Lynette De Beer (Acting CEO): May 2024 – May 2026. Lynette stepped in from her role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) following the retirement of Nomsa and has steered the ship for the past 2 years.

Mr Maseng, who now takes up the role,  has more than 25 years’ experience in various leadership positions in the legal, finance, property development and business management within the public and private sector.

‘Mr Maseng… has more than 25 years’ experience in various leadership positions’

He holds an MBA from Millpark Business School, Property Development qualification from the University of Cape Town and a law degree from the University of the North.

In the past, he has worked at Nedbank as a Legal Claims Advisor, then Telkom as a Regional Credit Manager, the City of Johannesburg as a Senior Credit Manager and then later as Project Director and Divisional Head (EMM).

He has most recently completed 5 years (including through the Covid Pandemic) at the NHBRC in his role as COO, where he is known to have focused on operational matters, aligning systems and driving the NHBRC’s dramatic digital transition.

Mr Maseng also played a vital role in amendments to the NHBRCs founding legislation during this time.

We wish him well in his new role as NCR CEO.
