Some FNB account holders can get loaves of bread from PnP for only 99c
Back in May, FNB announced a new benefit for its Easy PAYU customers, allowing them to buy up to four Shoprite store-baked brown loaves for just 99c each, provided they swiped their FNB card at the tills.
What a nice account benefit (since the account costs only R 6.50/month)
But things didn’t quite work out as planned and in July FNB temporarily replaced the offer with R15 vouchers, which customers could use to buy packaged loaves at any supermarket. This temporary fix was available up to four times a month.
Now, the 99c bread offer is back, but now with Pick n Pay instead of Shoprite.
FNB hasn’t shared why the partnership with Shoprite ended but they have shared that a lot of clients used the R15 vouchers successfully over the past few months.
The new Pick n Pay collaboration allows Easy PAYU customers (that’s the name of the type of account) to buy one loaf per week for 99c, using vouchers at Pick n Pay tills when paying with their FNB card.
Pick n Pay’s CEO, Sean Summers, is very happy with the partnership and thinks it ties in nicely with their own existing Smart Shopper programme, which is kinda similar to FNB’s eBucks, and is also aimed at helping customers manage their spending.
It must be noted that Shoprite’s store-baked loaves, which were part of the original deal, have been sold for R5 each for over eight years, with over a million loaves sold weekly.
If you are living on less then it is always good to keep an eye out for another way to save.
