Don't Fall For Their Tricks

Unfortunately, every industry faces scams of one sort or another.

Unscrupulous people impersonate banks, princes and famous people all the time asking for once off payments. Even those who are in debt review faces scams. This can be from people offering fake loans to those who are blacklisted or even get out of debt review scams.

One of the new scams doing the rounds goes like this:

The scammers somehow get access to information about consumers nearing their final debt review payments.

They then contact the consumer and say that:

They see the consumers is nearing their final payment.

They say that the Debt Counsellor will notify the NCR and issue a Form 19 (Clearance Certificate).

They, however, do the clearances with the various credit bureaus.

They levy a small charge for that.

Note: This claim is untrue. The consumer’s Debt Counsellor notifies both the NCR (whose system also notifies the credit bureaus) and the credit bureaus. No additional fee is needed for those who have stuck with the process with their Debt Counsellor. No additional service provider is required.

Please warn those nearing the end of their debt review to beware of such greedy scams. Always talk directly to your Debt Counsellor if anyone calls asking for money.
