Vehicle Sales increase in 2012
Vehicle sales statistics are showing around a 7 – 8% increase in sales compared to last year. Among other factors there has been an increased demand for new vehicles from rental companies accounting to about 17% of the new vehicles sold.
Executive head of Sales & Marketing at WesBank Mr. Chris de Kock has said that the increase in confidence levels among dealers themselves was a reflection of the fact that the high levels of sales activity within the automotive sector last year appeared to have continued this year. Wesbank are reporting at least a 8 % higher vehicle sales figure for Jan 2012 compared to last year Jan.
“The local vehicle sales market has showed unexpected, continued growth at the start of the new year…This growth has been stronger than expected due to the continuing demand by consumers for vehicles. This can be attributed to an improvement in the affordability factor with manufacturers continuing to launch new models at extremely affordable prices and new car prices growing significantly slower than those of used vehicles…we are seeing a continued shift by consumers from used to new vehicles.” De Kock said.
It looks like vehicle sales will continue to be higher this year than last. This is great news for those in vehicle sales who work on a commission basis and shows positive economic growth.
