AllProDC Annual General Meeting

The Alliance of Professional Debt Counsellors held their Annual General Meeting on the 6th of November 2013.

The meeting was held at Antonio’s restaurant down in Harbour Island by the sea in Gordon’s Bay. To say the smell of warm pizza was slightly distracting would be an understatement. Eventually those attending gave in and helped themselves having to talk between delicious mouthfuls.

Serious Debt Counselling business

As usual the meeting was warm and friendly with a casual atmosphere which in no way detracted from the serious nature of the debt counselling matters discussed. Alan Manshon (vice Chairperson) played host to the meeting and delivered the chairman’s round up of activity for the association over the last 12 months. The list of activities was quite impressive. AllProDC have also been meeting with all sorts of industry players be it the NCR or BASA or other Associations and Credit Providers not a moment has been wasted over the last 12 months. There has been an increased drive by the Alliance to talk to other industry role players to at least understand their perspective even if it does not align with that of the Alliance.

 Voting in a New National Executive Committee

When the time for the voting in of the New NEC things proceeded smoothly and a short while later the new NEC were announced. We will feature the names once all parties have been formally informed in writing. This year sees a new Chairperson and New Vice Chairperson as well. Some familiar willing volunteers will be helping out again.

Hot Topics

Some of the matters discussed were related to minor constitutional points and a report on finances. There was also a look at the issue of how many Debt Counsellors in SA are still not associated with any debt counselling association and concerns that these Debt Counsellors are not being represented at meetings like that of the Credit Industry Forum. Members were encouraged to help other Debt Counsellors to join an association and get representation. The very hot topic of the delicious smelling pizza was quickly addressed and other matters will be allocated to teams of members to look at and make suggestions by the new NEC.

Several rounds of applause were given to both the out going NEC members and the new volunteers who will be making themselves available over the next year.
