As of 2026 Debt Counsellors can now upload clearance certificate information directly to the various credit providers via the Credit Bureau Association’s new online portal.
This helps speed up the removal of information about a consumer’s debt review status and provides a safe data protected and PoPIA compliant way to do so.

The Official Portal
The CBA DC Portal is now the official NCR approved channel for the removal of consumers from debt review, and the removal of a debt review ‘flag’ on their credit reports.
It is important that consumers and Debt Counsellors know that the various bureaus will not respond to any direct email requests for the removal of a consumer from debt review.
Sending such requests or updates to the various credit bureaus would be a duplication of effort on the part of the Debt Counsellor.
Please note that the system is not design for other functionality at present. All other statuses must be sent via the NCR’s Debt Help System, which is now fully operational.
Backlog Massively Reduced
The existing backlog of registering consumer clearances, caused by challenges with NCR Debt Help earlier this year, has almost been cleared.
It appears that most credit bureaus should be fully up to date by the start of May. After the backlog has been cleared, turnaround times for new clearances will drop dramatically.
Getting Onto The System
The NCR has a database of email addresses for each registered Debt Counsellor.
While this is the primary list used by consumers and credit providers to contact Debt Counsellors, some Debt Counsellors may have changed their email addresses over time, which may not yet be reflecting on the NCR Database.
Recently, many Debt Counsellors have been in touch with the CBA to make adjustments to their email addresses as saved on the CBA system.
If you have changed your email address, please be sure to contact dcsupport@cba.co.za (cc. alison@cba.co.za) and let the CBA know.
Missing Prescription Acknowledgements Or Dates
If for some reason, a credit provider refuses to provide a Debt Counsellor with a Prescription Letter, or provides a prescription letter without the prescription date in particular, the Debt Counsellor should check the consumer’s credit profile.
In many instances, the credit provider will already have updated the account on the credit bureau with a B status.
In that case, it is not necessary to include the account in the Clearance Certificate (Form 19) as the status B update is a final status, already provided by the credit provider.
No Password Protected Documents
When uploading information on the CBA portal, please remember to remove any passwords from attached documents.
The CBA Portal is PoPIA complaint, so no password protection is needed. The use of password protected documents will, in fact, delay the process or cause it to fail.
Portal Access
Any NCR registered Debt Counsellors who do not yet have access to the portal, can also contact dcsupport@cba.co.za (cc. alison@cba.co.za).
