CIF – first reports start to come in
The New Credit Industry Forum
Reports of the meeting held last week are starting to come in. The first meeting was focused a lot around what the CIF will do and how they will do it. The consensus was that the CIF will follow the pattern of the former Debt review Advisory Committee ( DRAC ).
Representation for DCs
At present the CIF has 3 Debt Counsellor Associations as members. These are AllProDC, BDCF and DCASA. These associations encourage all DCs to join their associations. The former DRAC only had one association and seemed to be dominated by credit provider organisations. One statement made at the CIF meeting was in regard to those Debt Counsellors who were not represented by an association: The CIF intend to send out proposals they are going to make to all DCs for comment. Recently several non associated DCs submitted form 29 complaints to the NCR about not being included.
NCR Task Team report from 2009 back again
One proposal was the revival of the old 2009 task team agreements that were put forward several years ago. It seems that some members would like to see these 5 year old messures ratified by the new CIF.
