DCM Workshop With Debt Counsellors
The DCM Group (who help consumers distribute funds to their various creditors while under debt review) invited a number of Western Cape Debt Counsellors and Attorneys to attend a delightful wine and chocolate tasting at a Cape Town wine farm this past week. The function which began around sunset was hosted at Durbanville Hills Wine Estate. The venue overlooks the Tableview area and guests arrived looking sharp to mingle and chat about the industry.
Presentations
Several informative presentations were given focusing on plans for 2016 and how the DCM Group plan to help their clients see a better return on their effort and clientele in the moths that lie ahead. Also discussed was the best ways to get consumers to pay their monthly debt review installments.
Another presentation was in regard to the recent FNB & MFC v Barnardt & Coetzee matter where costs orders were granted against the Debt Counsellor. The case was heard in a high court (Appeal Court) and contradicts some of the recent lower court rulings about debt review. The court case is making Debt Counsellors reevaluate how they do debt review (and particularly what they put in their court documents) and the recent guidelines published by the NCR. A presentation by Steyn Coetzee Attorneys helped all the guests learn a bit more about the judgement and some of the ramifications.

The DCM Group are holding similar functions with their clients across the country to get their client Debt Counsellors motivated for the coming year. They will be in KZN this week.
