Debt Counsellors get back to work
Debt Counsellors open their offices
December and early January are traditionally quiet times in most businesses including that of Debt Counsellors. Many Companies closed down for an end of year break during this time. Consumers still made their monthly payments and the Payment Distribution Agencies (who handle the money side of things) still went about their business, of receiving money from consumers and splitting it up and distributing it to the consumers various creditors as per the Debt Counsellors plan, as per normal.
2014 begins
After the end of year shut down, at most Debt Counselling firms, things are now once more back up and running in the new year. Some Debt Counselling firms will only be opening doors next week but the majority are now open for business.
It seems there is already a demand for Debt Counsellors services as consumers have been making contact as they plan ahead for 2014. Most economists warn that 2014 will be a tough year with increasing petrol and electricity costs, higher transport costs and as a result higher food prices.
Consumers are getting wise & getting help
Some Debt Counsellors report that they received emails and calls from consumers looking for help even on Christmas and New Years day. It seems then that many consumers are thinking of how they can deal with their debt rather than ignore it. This is a very good sign, as dealing with debt is always easier when a consumer first gets into a tough financial situation and professional help at this point can quickly help consumers get back on their feet and reduce their monthly obligations. Leaving debt for longer means additional costs and stress. Debt Counsellors can still help but consumers will be looking at longer rehabilitation time periods.
