Debt Review Success Tip #5
Debt Review Success Tips
The amazing debt review process can help you settle your debts over time in a realistic manner. With the help of a professional Debt Counsellor, you can let go of bad financial habits and embrace a financially free future. But how can you get the most out of your debt review? In this short series of articles, we are looking at some of the top tips for success while under debt review.
Tip #5
Understand The Process
When you first decide you need help with your financial situation you may have done a google search about debt review. You may have visited one or two websites to find a supplier (a Debt Counsellor) who could help you. You may then have phoned the office and chatted with someone (hopefully a Debt Counsellor) about how the process works and after thinking about all the benefits you may have signed up.
Does this mean you know everything there is to know about debt review? No, obviously not.
You Will Forget
After a few days or weeks, the discussion that you had with the Debt Counsellor will begin to fade. Details will become unclear and you will likely forget much that they told you. This can leave you with some incorrect ideas about how the process really works and what you should and should not do.
‘Details will become unclear and you will likely forget much that they told you’
One way to deal with this situation is to call your Debt Counsellor and chat with them again. They can remind you of important information. Always feel free to call your Debt Counsellor and ask for advice and info.

Another way you can understand and anticipate the next step in the debt review process is by asking your Debt Counsellor for a printed booklet (which Debtfree Magazine helps distribute) about each step of the process and what happens.
You can also go online and do research. For example, you can read the Debtfree Magazine which has articles all about debt review, debt counselling and coping with debt.
If you want to have success while in debt review (paying off your debt with a debt restructuring court order and receiving debt counselling) then you need to really understand how it works. You need to have accurate and realistic information about the process.

This will help you make a success of your debt review and help you avoid many of the common pitfalls that people fall into during the process.
