Credit Amnesty Hearing

The DTI has proposed a credit information amnesty in the near future. As part of the process they are holding public hearings to see what people think. The next meeting will be in Cape Town this week.

They have extended the following invitation:

The Minister of Trade and Industry has published for public comments a notice on the Removal of Adverse Credit Information Project in the Government Gazette No.36889 on 30 September 2013.

This project was initiated through the request by the Select Committee on Trade and International Relations to look at the possibility of extending further credit amnesty to consumers whose credit records are impaired. Recommendations on who should qualify for the amnesty were approved by Cabinet on 5 September 2013. Consequently, we are required to consult with members of the public and stakeholders on the subject.  Kindly be informed that the possible venue of the public consultations on the above is as follows:
