Our Editor's Note

2026 has been a confusing year so far.

It kind of feels like we are somehow in the 60th day of January.

Angry presidents are threatening to invade countries, are actually kidnapping politicians and are blowing up their enemies because, among other things, they did not get a Nobel peace prize (or did they, since the actual winner did give it to them? How does that work? Confusing). Confusing

Just when you thought the US courts had said that the tariffs issued were illegal, more global tariffs were immediately announced, and then increased. Confusing.

Countries are saying the want peace, while fighting and blowing each other up. Olympic athletes are declaring their infidelities on international tv or padding their underwear to somehow cheat. Confusing

And in among it all, the most concerning thing is that a baby macaque monkey has been abandoned by his mean mommy and bullied by older monkeys.

Leave Punch alone you bullies!

Are You Confused?

It’s all very confusing and concerning.

Which brings us to the question: Are you confused about debt review?

If you have just begun the process, that’s totally normal. Even though you probably had a very comprehensive chat with your Debt Counsellor when you began the process, it can still feel confusing.

If you work in the industry, you are probably also a bit confused right now.

Two large credit providers are in a dispute over who gets paid for the same debts. Both would like to get paid. Confusing.

We were told by the Regulator to keep doing our jobs but that we can’t use a pivotal tool to do that job. Confusing.

So, if you feel confused, please do read this issue where we dive into these topics and hopefully by the time you finish you won’t feel so alone.

Hopefully you will feel motivated to push through the confusion and focus on getting debt free.
