NCR Workshop This Friday

The National Credit Regulator recently rescheduled their Cape Town Workshop (originally planned for Feb) for this week Friday.

Attendance is by RSVP only and invitations are extended to local Debt Counsellors and Credit Providers as the event is industry specific. These workshops are nominally aimed at educating and training registrants as part of the NCR’s mandate.  The workshops have received criticism, by some, in the past as being a more of a ‘don’t’ lecture rather than educational training. With recent interesting developments both at parliament in regard to possible amendments to come this year and the NCRs review of the fee structure for debt review there will not doubt be many interesting topics and Debtfree will tweet those out as they happen. Be sure to follow us and get all that live if you ar unable to attend.

The previously planned event for February was cancelled extremely last minute, leaving many Gauteng credit providers, who had arrived early in Cape Town for the week, unamused and out of pocket for the expense of the trips. As a result, the rescheduled March meeting will be somewhat less attended than first planned as some credit providers have already spent the allocated funds for the event. The western Cape is however home to the second largest concentration of Debt Counsellors in the country. Many Debt Counsellors will be in attendance.

workshop conferenceThe last time the NCR held a workshop in Cape Town things took a strange turn as a member of the Cape Law Society was somewhat disrespectful of a hard working and beloved Cape Town Debt Counsellor, which somewhat marred the whole day. It is hoped that this year will see the event go off without a hitch.
