NCT Announce December Motion Court Dates

The National Consumer Tribunal (NCT) will be heading to Cape Town again during December to hear debt restructuring applications.

Cape Town has the 2nd largest concentration of Debt Counsellors in SA. It also seems that Debt Counsellors in Cape Town are taking advantage of a provision for the NCT to hear matters relating to debt review. As a result, the NCT often have to hold motion courts in the area to cover the amount of cases coming in.

The NCT have around 10 staff and hear thousands of cases. This creates a great demand on their time and resources and their workload is growing each month. Recently the NCT have come under some fire from the NCR and Parliament in regard to clearing their backlog. The roving motion courts are designed to do just this and have reduced the backlog considerably.

The NCT will be in Cape Town from the 5th to the 9th of December. Though the venue has not yet been confirmed it may well be the now familiar Pepper Tree Club Hotel in the CBD.
