New Nedbank Head of Debt Counselling Announced

Nedbank has announced the appointment of Pamela  Masilela as the new head of its Debt Review division.

Pamela is an attorney with a Master of Laws degree and more than 14 years of experience across the public and private sectors. Her background spans commercial litigation, corporate and public law, and legal advisory services for financial institutions and government departments.

She joined Nedbank in 2016 as a Legal Manager, where she set up an in-house litigation unit designed to cut legal costs, prevent prescription, and secure judgments in undefended Magistrate Court matters nationwide.

Over the years, she has taken on a series of senior roles at the bank, including Head of NRR Legal & 3rd Party Collections in 2020 and, most recently, Head of Legal Recoveries in 2024.

Pamela’s academic background includes an LLB (2008), a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Law (2014), and a Master of Laws (2018), all from Wits University. She also completed the BankSeta Futurefit Senior Banker Development Programme with Wits Business School in 2023 and the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme in 2024.

Industry observers say her appointment signals Nedbank’s intention to strengthen its debt counselling operations, drawing on her legal expertise and leadership track record.
