The annual Debt Review Awards will be livestreamed from the venue in Cape Town.

If you are not able to be there in person then not to worry, you will be able to tune in on YouTube and watch the event and even enjoy some added extras.

Here are all the details.

the Industry PreShow

On Friday the 16th of October, there will be a special broadcast of industry relevant content, interviews, presentations and more in the Debt Review Awards PreShow.

The Preshow runs between 12 noon and 2pm (when the Awards ceremony begins).

There will be updates in regard to legislation, industry initiatives, insurance and unique content relating to debt review.

The Preshow is open to all and especially beneficial to senior staff at Debt Counsellors and credit provider offices. All are invited to tune in via YouTube.

Subscribing to the YouTube channel in advance will help speed up access on the day and ensure that you get notified when the live stream begins.

How To Watch The Debt Review Awards

Seats at the Awards gala are limited to 200 in person guests, mostly consisting of nominees and speakers.

That does not mean that you have to miss a moment of the action as the entire event will be livestreamed via YouTube.

This means that no matter where you are in the world, as long as you have internet access (and data) you should be able to watch the event live.

You will be able to watch presentations and speeches from the DTIC, NCR, NCT and various industry associations. You will not want to miss the speeches this year. Check www.debtreviewawards.co.za and www.debtfreedigi.co.za regularly to see the speaker announcements.

Links to the YouTube livestream will also be shared on these websites on the day, as well as announcements and links via social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn, X and Threads.

If you are subscribed to the Debtfree Magazine YouTube Channel, then you will also receive a notification (on your phone or computer) when the event goes live (starting with the Industry Preshow).

Organize A Watch Party

Most bank debt review departments and debt counselling practices will close early on Friday October 16th 2026.

So, you might as well too.

No one will be answering the phones or emails anyway, as everyone will be watching the Awards live to hear the results.

Why not organize a big screen with internet connection and some snacks at the office so that everyone can have a little fun?

Some offices invite everyone to get dressed up nice and take great team photos. It is a chance for some good times and team building.

Even if you are not expecting to win anything, you will enjoy the unique presentations and seeing familiar industry faces give speeches. There will even be chances to win prizes such as R10 000 to help one of your clients get out of debt (for Debt Counsellors who complete an online form during the Industry Preshow). There will also be consumers who have debts written off during the event along with plenty of other feel good moments.

This is a celebration of all things to do with debt review, debt counselling and debt management. Share it with your entire team.

Am I Being Considered?

There are thousands of credit providers and over 1800 Debt Counsellors.

So, you might wonder am I in the running to win an award this year?

You do not have to sign up to be considered in the Awards each year, but you do need to be registered with the NCR and in good standing in the community.

If you are registered then you are in the potential running to be considered, nominated and yes, to even win an award.

Over the entire year (which started after the Awards last year in late October and ended in September this year), the very wide pool of NCR registrants was slowly narrowed to a few top candidates.

In some cases, several candidates for specific awards are announced prior to the Awards. In many cases this is a Top 10.

If you have been nominated in those categories, then well done. You are standing out among your 1800 registered peers. That’s a huge accomplishment.

Top 5 Debt Counsellors & Top Rated Winners

On the day of the Debt Review Awards Gala, the Top 5 candidates in various size categories will be announced.

Then the name of the highest rated among this small group will then be announced. These are the Award winners.

If present at the Gala, they will have a chance to come up to the stage and accept their awards.

If not able to attend the Gala, the Award will be sent to them (or in some cases brought to them by their PDA who will accept for them on the day).

After the event, photographs will be taken of all the winners and later shared with the media, winners, on the www.debtreviewawards.co.za website, in Debtfree Magazine and on social media.

The top 10, Top 5 and winners all receive special digital media that they can use to share information about their recognition at the Awards.
