Debtfree DIGI March – Editor’s Note
Debtfree DIGI March 2014 – Editors Notes
When you glance at the calendar and see that you are in the third month of the year sometimes you can’t believe that Jan and Feb have already flown by. For many it is a relief just to have made it this far and survived the hardest months of the year. Debt Counsellors have been seeing more consumers than ever applying for their help and have been busy trying to assist consumers who have been stretched too thin by Repo Rate increases and petrol price hikes.
.
However the new year has also meant new changes to the industry. There are new regulations that have been issued by the DTI Minister which will change the way information is shown on your credit record. Will this make credit reports better for consumers and less useful for credit providers? Read our article to see what you think. Another large change for the industry, in the form of the National Credit Amendment Bill, is coming soon as the Bill passed it’s second to last hurdle recently. We catch up on where the Bill is now and what happens next in our news section.
.
If you want to know what it is like to run a debt counselling firm, be sure to read our interview with KZN Debt Counsellor Martin Snyman. Debt Counsellors can also find lots of industry event dates and announcements near the back of the magazine. If you are looking for a Debt Counsellor, attorney, financial advisor or other professional service then why not turn to our Service Directory Section which features many excellent firms which can help?
.
We are very proud to announce that Debtfree is helping to organise the very first annual Debt Review Awards this year. The event will be a great chance for the industry to acknowledge excellence by hard working companies and individuals. You can find out more in this issue about who/what/where etc.
.
So, take a moment congratulate yourself on surviving the hectic start to the year. If you’re under debt review then keep making your payments and chipping away at that debt. If dealing with debt stress then check out our competition and living on less section for tips and advice.
.
We hope you enjoy this issue and remember by the time you finish reading it you will be that little bit closer to being debt free.
